Emily Spencer

Emily is a licensed professional counselor with certification in perinatal mental health and additional training in Karen Kleiman's Art of Holding. She holds active licenses in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Emily graduated from Shippensburg University with her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Her experience includes providing individual therapy and group therapy with children and adults in a variety of treatment settings (outpatient, intensive outpatient, and inpatient). She has also worked with active duty military personnel and their families. Emily provides ongoing supervision for master's level counselors seeking licensure. Emily’s passion for perinatal work began after becoming a mother herself. She recognizes the individual and relationship challenges unique to this major life transition. Emily’s approach to therapy is client-centered, acknowledging that the therapeutic journey isn’t one size fits all. Cognitive behavioral, strengths based, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques can all be adapted to fit a client’s specific need throughout the therapy process.

“Reaching out for help can be difficult, especially during a time period in your life where you may feel so vulnerable. Please know that I am here to provide you with a safe space to work through the challenges and celebrate with you as you overcome them. I am willing to meet you wherever you are on your parenthood journey and am truly honored to do so.”
